Margaret O’Brien is an artist and researcher, and a lecturer in fine art based in Dublin. She holds a BA degree from Limerick School of Art, and MFA degree from the Slade School of Art, London. She has MPhil from The Irish Arts Research Centre, Trinity College Dublin, and has recently submitted a PhD here. O’Brien has won significant awards and funding from arts organisations and research bodies including the Arts Council of Ireland, the Arts and Humanities Research Council U.K., the Irish Research Council, Dublin City Council, Trinity College Dublin, and University College London. She has been awarded many high profile artist residencies such as the Irish Museum of Modern Art; Helsinki International Artist Residency in association with Temple Bar Gallery and Studios; and Centre Culturel Irlandais, Paris. O’Brien exhibits widely and internationally including the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Israel; Cite Internationale des Arts, Paris; Torrence Art Museum, Los Angeles; and Tokyo Municipal Museum.
