Puerto Rican visual artist Poli Marichal utilizes printmaking, painting, mixed media, film and video to make works that explore social, political, environmental and personal issues. In her newest works, she uses digital software to animate her prints and create shorts that take the printed image to another, more fluid sphere. She is considered one of the pioneers of experimental film in Puerto Rico. She is a Rockefeller Media Arts Fellow, and has participated in projects funded by grants from the Mike Kelley Foundation and the Rauschenberg Foundation.
